The Assistant Minister for Immigration and Border Protection, Senator the Hon Michaelia Cash has announced that people visiting both Australia and New Zealand for the 2015 Cricket World Cup will benefit from having to apply for only one visa under a new Trans–Tasman visa arrangement.
The International Cricket Council’s Cricket World Cup is scheduled to take place from 14 February to 29 March 2015. All 14 qualifying teams will play matches in both New Zealand and Australia.

Minister Cash has stated that between 26 January and 5 April 2015, upon arrival at the New Zealand border, immigration authorities will grant a visa on arrival to visitors who already hold an Australian visa. This means that under the new visa arrangement, both participants and spectators of the Cricket World Cup will be required to apply for only one visa to follow their teams to both countries. Minister Cash expects that the new arrangement will substantially benefit the tourism sector in both countries.

New Zealand immigration authorities will grant a visa on arrival to people holding almost any valid temporary or permanent Australian visa. This means that the new visa arrangement will also benefit those visitors who are already in Australia.
